Lufthansa

1926 on January, 6th as a result of association of transport group Deutsche Aero Lloyd (DAL) and aircraft industry concern Junkers Luftverkehr joint-stock company Deutsche Luft Hansa Aktiengesellschaft is formed. As firm symbolics the new corporation took to itself a logo with the image of the crane, belonging to structural division DAL — companies Deutsche Luft-Reederei, and "Junkers's" sine-yellow colours. The air fleet of corporation initially totaled 162 planes of 18 various types, and the first transcontinental flight to China made by pilots of Lufthansa in same year, became one of the brightest events of a public life of Germany.

Having begun the participation in the international aviatransport activity with the introduction into the Soviet-German enterprise Dereluft (organised in 1921), Lufthansa expands and makes active it, acting the Spanish airline Iberia, Brazilian Syndicato Condor and Chinese Eurasia.

Lufthansa opens the first line of regular transatlantic post flights.

After the volume of aviatransportations of the company and quantity of flights carried out by it (including such destinations as Bangkok and Santiago-de-Chile) have reached record scales for Europe, commercial operations of Lufthansa have been interrupted by the Second World War. In 1939-45 all air fleet of corporation has been mobilised for performance of military-transport problems, — the exception was made by only small flights of civil appointment in some European cities. And upon termination of war and they have been stopped because Lufthansa has got to «the black list» the companies co-operating with the Hitlerite government which activity under the decision of allied administration was subject to an interdiction.

The ministry of transport of Germany makes the decision on restoration of a passenger and cargo air transport of the country and charges works on reorganisation of national civil air fleet to agency Vro Bongers headed by Hans Bongersom — former operating Lufthansa airlines.

Under the direction of Bongersa there is a formation of new airline to headquarters in Cologne which is officially registered on January, 6th, 1953 under name Aktiengesellschaft fmr Luftverkehrsbedarf (Luftag).

To the main German aviaconcern its former name Deutsche Lufthansa Aktiengesellschaft comes back.

On April, 1st updated Lufthansa opens the regular air communication.

Lufthansa enters during a jet era, starting to use high-speed liners (first of all — Boing-707) on flights of distant following. Translation process of all aircraft depot of the company on planes of new type has occupied more than 10 years, and last screw car (Vickers Viscount) has been out of service in 1971

In process of expansion of use by corporation of jet planes and their introduction in all its airlines there is a perfection and specialisation of types of the liners making air fleet of Lufthansa: for flights of average range Boing-727 is got, on near lines Boing-737 extends, with occurrence of the first planes on concern arms there is Boing-747, the company to which later is made McDonnell-Douglas DC10 and A300.

Thanks to realisation full-scale «the rehabilitation program», reforming and business re-structuring, concern manage to pass successfully the heaviest for its post-war history an economic crisis. It is made and absolute privatisation of all airlines in large part belonging earlier to the state. The functional divisions of Lufthansa which are engaged in a cargo transportation, repair and maintenance service of air liners, and also IT Maintenance, receive the status of the independent enterprises as a part of corporation.

Lufthansas, Air Canada, SAS, Thai Airways and United Airlines will organise on the terms of partnership and cooperation the global business union first in the world aviatransport industry «Star Alliance» which structure then is entered by variety of other large companies.

Lufthansa starts performance «the technical training plan to the XXI century», including working out and introduction of new kinds of service, the advanced information-technical decisions, but also, equipment of the transport park by modern air liners A340-600 and two-deck A380.

Within the limits of the initiative «Future of Europe» Lufthansa carries out reorganisation of the regional service divisions and together with partners in «the Star alliance» actively participates in development of a uniform intercontinental transport network. The corporation continues a course on expansion of the transport lines, increase of level and quality of service of passengers, perfection of technological maintenance of the activity, — beginning from application of new methods and safety means, including introduction of perspective tools of electronic business, and finishing the equipment of planes system of high-speed access to Internet FlyNet.
